SECTION I: JOB PURPOSE 

The Senior Project Officer will oversee a portfolio of projects, provide technical guidance on educational content and classroom quality, and supervise the field team. The role calls for strong project management skills paired with a genuine understanding of teaching and learning gained through classroom or education programming experience, along with the administrative and coordination skills needed to manage partner relationships effectively.

SECTION II: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Key Responsibilities: 

Pedagogical Guidance and Technical Quality:

  • Provide input on teaching and learning approaches used within the project, drawing on a solid understanding of how students learn. 

  • Review training content, classroom materials, and coaching tools to help ensure they are pedagogically sound and age appropriate. 

  • Guide and support Project Officers and teachers on classroom practice, offering feedback that is specific and usable. 

  • Identify gaps in teaching quality or learning outcomes and help translate those observations into practical adjustments to project activities. 

  • Design and facilitate training sessions for adult learners, applying sound instructional design principles. 

Project Management and Supervision:

  • Manage ongoing projects in line with the provisions set out in project documents and concept notes. 

  • Supervise and support Project Officers, ensuring consistency in implementation quality across schools and directorates. 

  • Organize and follow up on the execution of project related activities, keeping work plans realistic and grounded in field conditions. 

  • Analyze work plans against project deliverables and flag adjustments. 

  • Assist in preparing budgets for project proposals and monitor expenditure against approved grants. 

  • Develop and maintain organized paper and electronic archives for project related work. 

Content Development and Training Delivery:

  • Develop training material that supports multiple learning styles and reflects sound adult learning principles. 

  • Conduct needs assessments to identify specific knowledge or skill gaps among teachers and students. 

  • Facilitate focus group discussions and sessions with school staff and students, documenting outcomes as needed. 

Reporting and Evaluation:

  • Prepare, review, and edit project progress reports, in coordination with the Program Manager and field team, adjusting targets where necessary. 

  • Provide regular updates to the Program Manager on programme quality, research findings, and any grants at risk. 

  • Prepare and maintain supporting documentation attached to narrative and financial reports. 

  • Apprise management of critical issues affecting quality or delivery as they arise. 

Partner and Community Relations:

  • Participate in meetings and discussions on potential programme development. 

  • Represent Madrasati professionally with the Ministry of Education, field directorates, and school communities. 

Other Tasks:

  • Perform any other tasks related to the nature of the work, as directed by the Program Manager or the Director of the Madrasati Initiative. 

SECTION III: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES 

Educational Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Education or a closely related field; a master's degree is an advantage. 

Language Skills:

  • Arabic: Native proficiency.
  • English: Professional working proficiency.

 

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years.

Nature of Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in education programming, project management, or teaching. 

  • A good understanding of pedagogy and how learning happens, gained through teaching or education programming experience. 

  • Experience designing or delivering training for teachers or adult learners. 

  • Experience managing or supervising the implementation of ongoing projects, ideally including supervision of junior staff. 

  • Experience in institutional fundraising, including developing project proposals and concept notes for donors. 

  • Strong analytical and professional writing skills. 

  • A good understanding of budget control, expenses, and allocations. 

  • Strong administrative, organizational, and planning skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and lead within a cross functional team environment. 

  • Strong oral and written command of both English and Arabic. 

  • Strong digital competence, including comfortable use of Microsoft Office, data reporting tools, and other digital platforms relevant to project management. 

  • Experience mobilizing and communicating with private sector partners is an advantage.
